Some styles differ. A leather koozie from Morgan Rhea is 4″ x 4.5″ (10.2 x 11.4 cm). A Koozie® slim can cooler from 4imprint is 7″ x 3.5″ (17.8 x 8.9 cm) when laid flat. That one is made of polyester with a foam backing.

Can Koozie Height and Diameter: How Koozie Size Matches Can Size
A koozie is only as good as its fit. A loose one lets heat in. A tight one won’t slide on.
What are the dimensions of a standard 12 oz can? About 4.83″ tall and 2.6″ wide (12.3 x 6.6 cm). Dimensions.com lists it at 355 mL.
What are the dimensions of a 16 oz can? About 6.19″ tall and 2.6″ wide (15.7 x 6.6 cm), per TricorBraun. People call it a tallboy.
Slim cans, like Truly or White Claw, are taller and thinner. One industry guide puts a 12 oz slim can at about 6.1″ tall.
Here is a simple check. A 2.6″ can is about 8.2 inches around (diameter x 3.14). A koozie stretches to wrap that. This is why a flat 7″ koozie still fits a slim can.
What Size Image for a Can Koozie? Print Area and Artwork Guide
What size image for a can koozie? For a 12 oz koozie, use 2.75″ W x 3″ H (7 x 7.6 cm) for a center-front print. At 300 DPI, that is about 825 x 900 pixels.
Print areas change by size and location. These come from Quality Logo Products and 4imprint:
| Koozie type | Print area (inches) | Pixels at 300 DPI |
|---|---|---|
| 12 oz, center front | 2.75″ W x 3″ H | 825 x 900 |
| 16 oz, center front | 3.25″ W x 4.5″ H | 975 x 1350 |

Some tips for clean artwork:
- Use a vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) when you can. Use a high-resolution PNG if you can’t.
- Keep text away from the edges. Fabric stretches and seams can bend the print.
- Use light ink on dark koozies and dark ink on light ones.
- Pick a print spot: center front, front and back, near the bottom, or bottom only.
How to Measure and Choose the Right Can Koozie Size
Measure the can before you order. Wrap a tape around the widest part. Then measure the height.
- Unsure what people will drink? Choose 12 oz. It fits standard cans and bottles.
- Serving tallboys or mixed drinks? Go up to 16 oz.
- Serving seltzers or energy drinks? Pick a slim koozie.
- Need a gift for wine lovers? Choose a 25 oz koozie.
Material matters too. Foam and neoprene are light and cheap. Stainless steel keeps drinks cold longer and can be engraved. Leather looks upscale and loosens after a few uses.
Printing changes your design size. Screen printing suits one ink color. Full-color printing suits photos. Engraving suits steel.
Koozies are popular for weddings, tailgates, bar swag and promotional giveaways.
